Evde Devrim isimli enstalasyon, yanan şehri bir evin penceresinden gördüğümüz bir an’ı

görselleştiriyor. Yakın dönemde Türkiye’de yaşanan Gezi olaylarını akla getiren direniş sesleri, dünyadaki 5 farklı protesto seslerinin bir araya getirilmesiyle oluşturulmuştur.

Le Corbusier’den referansla, gördüğümüz sahnede yer alan pencere, mahrem alanla kamusal alan arasındaki ayrıma işaret etmektedir. Bu, bir tanıklık durumudur ve her ne kadar yanan şehri görsek de, sokaklar bakış noktamızdan dolayı sadece “görülmektedir”. Sahne, izleyici olarak bizi aşağıdaki savaş alanına dahil etme ile etmeme arasında bir noktada konumlar. Gördüğümüz sandalyelerde oturan kimse olmamasına karşın,baktığımız nokta bizi evin içinde kalmaya zorlamaktadır.

Öte yandan gördüğümüz kadrajda yeralan ev-içi mekan, Çağrı Saray’ın Gezi direnişinden

yıllar önce terk ettiği eski atölyesidir, bu bağlamda mekan ve sahne bir fotoğraf gibi ölü bir memento mori’dir. Bu anlamda gördüğümüz sahne her ne kadar yakın geçmişe referans verse de, zamanın bir noktasında asılı kalmış durumdadır.

Revolution at Home

The installation called Domestic Revolution visualizes a moment that we see the burning town from the window of a house. The sounds of resistance that is reminiscent of the recent Gezi protests in Turkey is composed of sounds from 5 different protests around the globe.

Acknowledged by Le Corbusier, the window on the scene refers to the discrimination of private space from the public one. This is a matter of testimony and even if we can see the city that’s burning down, the streets are only “seen” because of our point of view. The scene locates us at an ambiguous point between including and not including us to the battlefield below. Although there is not a single person sitting on the chairs we see, our viewpoint enforces us to stay in.

On the other hand, the domestic space within the frame is Saray’s old studio where he left years before the Gezi resistance; so in this context the space and the scenery is a dead memento mori, like a photograph. In this sense, even though the scene we observe refers to the recent past, it hangs in the air, frozen, at a certain speck of time.
